Scuba Diving Gauges & Instrument Consoles

Scuba diving pressure gauges, depth gauges and instrument consoles at Sussex Diving

Knowing your depth and how much breathing gas remains in your cylinder is fundamental to enjoyable, well-planned scuba diving. Diving gauges and instrument consoles provide this essential information in a straightforward, easy-to-read format.

At Sussex Diving, we offer reliable scuba diving instruments, including submersible pressure gauges (SPGs), depth gauges and combined instrument consoles. Whether you're assembling your first regulator setup or looking for a dependable backup instrument, our team can help.

Submersible Pressure Gauges – Know Your Air

A submersible pressure gauge (SPG) displays the pressure remaining in your diving cylinder, allowing you to monitor your breathing-gas supply throughout the dive.

Regularly checking your cylinder pressure helps you manage your gas consumption, maintain appropriate reserves and make informed decisions about when to end your dive.

Traditional analogue pressure gauges are popular because they are simple, familiar and do not require batteries. Many feature clear, colour-coded displays that are easy to read underwater.

Depth Gauges – Understanding Your Dive

Depth gauges provide a direct indication of your current depth. Some analogue models also incorporate a maximum-depth indicator, allowing you to review the deepest point reached during your dive.

Although modern dive computers provide considerably more information, a separate depth gauge can still be useful as part of an appropriately configured backup instrumentation system.

Instrument Consoles – Everything Together

Diving consoles combine two or more instruments into one convenient housing.

A typical two-gauge console incorporates a cylinder pressure gauge and depth gauge, while other configurations may include an underwater compass.

Consoles provide a practical way to organise essential instruments, helping divers keep their equipment accessible and easy to check throughout the dive.

Do I Still Need a Gauge with a Dive Computer?

Dive computers provide essential information about depth, dive time, ascent rate and no-decompression limits.

However, not every dive computer monitors cylinder pressure. Unless your computer has compatible air integration, you'll still need a pressure gauge to monitor your breathing gas.

Even with air integration, some divers retain an analogue SPG as a backup. The right arrangement depends on your equipment and diving requirements.

Our advice:
Choose diving instruments that are easy to read, appropriately rated and compatible with your equipment.

Pressure gauges and their high-pressure hoses form part of your breathing-gas system, so correct installation, inspection and maintenance are important.

If you're unsure whether you need a standalone pressure gauge, combined console or backup instrument, our experienced team will be happy to discuss your requirements.
