Overview of the PADI Advanced Open Water Course
The PADI Advanced Open Water Course is an exhilarating program designed to advance your diving skills and broaden your underwater experience. It is typically the next step after completing the Open Water Diver certification, allowing divers to expand on the experience gained during the Open Water course. Over the course of two days, divers will engage in five dives, each aimed at developing a specific skill.
One of the standout features of the PADI Advanced Open Water Course is its flexibility. Divers can tailor their experience by choosing from various speciality dives that align with their interests and goals. The course emphasizes both safety and fun, ensuring that participants are well-prepared for the adventures that lie ahead.
Specialty Dives Offered in the Course
One of the most exciting aspects of the PADI Advanced Open Water Course is the variety of speciality dives available to participants. Beyond the required Deep and Navigation dives, you have the opportunity to choose 3 exciting dives among the most popular are:
- Wreck diving
- Peek Performance Buoyancy

- Boat (Additional cost £45)

Prerequisites for Enrolling in the Course
There are certain prerequisites to enrolling on the PADI Advanced Open Water course, first and foremost, participants must hold a PADI Open Water Diver certification or an equivalent certification from another recognized organization.
Additionally, participants must be at least 12 years old to enrol in the PADI Advanced Open Water Course. Divers under 14 will receive a Junior Advanced Open Water Diver certification, which comes with certain depth limitations and specific requirements tailored to their age group. This ensures that all divers, regardless of age, can enjoy the course while adhering to safety guidelines.
It is recommended that divers have recently logged dives; due to the added stress of diving at depth, it is important that advanced open water students can perform basic diving skills in a fluid manner; those who haven't dived recently should consider taking a PADI Re-Activate before signing up for the Advanced Open Water Course.
