The PADI Assistant Instructor course develops the instructional knowledge, presentation skills, and in-water demonstration quality required to operate at professional teaching level. Course content includes learning theory, the PADI system of education, standards and risk management, student control and positioning, confined water teaching techniques, knowledge development presentations, and effective evaluation of student performance. You will refine key skills to demonstration quality and practise conducting both academic and confined water sessions.

The programme is delivered under the mentorship of our award-winning PADI IDC Staff Instructor, David Hunneyball, providing structured coaching, detailed feedback, and real-world training insight to prepare you for progression toward Open Water Scuba Instructor level.

Once qualified, a PADI Assistant Instructor can independently teach PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy and Project AWARE Specialist courses, conduct Discover Scuba Diving in confined water, teach knowledge development sessions, and conduct certain confined water skills under the indirect supervision of an Instructor. This qualification expands your professional responsibilities and is a key step toward becoming a fully certified PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
